PMP Exam Update 2026
PMBOK 8 is here. Does the exam change? Read the confirmed timeline inside.

KAVITA SHARMA

Hi {firstname},

PMBOK® Guide 8th Edition has been released. A new Exam Content Outline (ECO) has been announced.

Naturally, my inbox is flooded with one question:
"Kavita, do I need to restart my studying?"

I recorded a video to give you the exact truth, but here is the short answer: No. (At least, not yet).

Here is the official timeline you need to know:

🟢 Phase 1: The "Safe Zone" (Now – June 30, 2026)

If you take the exam before July 2026, the current syllabus applies.

  • Study Material: Your current books/courses are 100% valid.
  • PMBOK 8: You do NOT need to read it.
  • My Advice: Don't wait. Pass the exam now while the format is stable.

🔴 Phase 2: The "New Era" (Starting July 2026)

From July 2026 onwards, the exam changes significantly.

  • New ECO: Heavy focus on Business Environment (Strategy).
  • New Format: Longer exam (240 mins) with 30-40 Case Study questions.
  • New Topics: AI, Data, and Sustainability.

I have broken down every single change, including the "Pilot" opportunity in January 2026, in my latest video.

Don't let the rumors panic you. The goal is alignment, not anxiety.

Happy Learning,
Kavita Sharma
